Onahan, William J. (William James), 1836-1919

Wiliam James Onahan was born in Ireland in 1836. Onahan became a well-known Chicago businessman and civic leader. He wrote for numerous Catholic journals and was chosen to organize the Catholic Lay Congress in Baltimore, Md. in 1889. In September of 1893 he served as secretary of the Committee of Organization at the Columbian Catholic Congress held in Chicago. Onahan died in 1919 in Chicago.
